How Daemon helped Tachmed cut clinical research time by 50% using AI
At Daemon, we're always on the lookout for ways to help businesses innovate and transform through tech. That’s why we’re excited about our collaboration with Tachmed, an innovative healthcare startup.
By integrating AI into their processes, we’ve helped Tachmed reduce their scientists' clinical investigation time by 50%, speeding up the development of crucial healthcare diagnostics. Here’s how we managed it.
Shaking up research with AI
Tachmed’s mission is all about making diagnostic testing smoother, letting people get early diagnoses from home with just one digital device. A big part of their development involves quickly working out clinical use cases and antibodies for testing.
But the old-school method of digging through loads of scientific literature and vendor data was time-consuming and full of possible errors. That’s where we came in.
Our AI and Machine Learning team helped Tachmed tap into the power of AI to speed things up. Using Anthropic’s Claude AI, hosted on Amazon Bedrock, we created a system that we built in AWS that automatically pulls relevant data from PubMed and vendor websites. This lets Tachmed’s team quickly spot key biomarkers and clinical opportunities for their assay development. The result? What used to take days or even weeks can now be done in no time.
A tailored solution with a big real-world impact
Our partnership wasn’t just about building AI tools; it also included a lot of training for Tachmed’s team to make sure they really grasped the tech and could use it effectively. We ran hands-on workshops and crafted a user-friendly interface, making sure that everyone, from scientists to non-tech hires, could make the most of the new system. This enablement wasn't just about upskilling on the tech that we built, but also about building a common understanding between our AI team and Tachmed's, so that we could together be aware of the possibilities of AI in the healthcare space and be prepared as a team to plan how to use AI in the future to supercharge Tachmed's scientists and broader business.
Here’s what Paul Christie, CEO of Tachmed, had to say,
“The AI-powered system our team developed is already saving us time, giving us valuable insights, and letting us innovate faster. It’s just the start of using AI to shake up assay development and its applications in healthcare.”
The impact of AI
The impact of integrating AI has been clear and quick. Tachmed scientists now save up to a week on every two-week literature review and also cut down the time spent on each clinical project. This boost in research speed not only helps roll out new healthcare solutions faster but also shortens the time-to-market, which is key for dealing with health challenges swiftly. Here’s what our AI & ML Principal, Damien Duff, had to say,
“The AI tools let us focus on the breakthroughs that truly matter. By automating repetitive tasks, we're freeing up scientists to dive into high-value research that really drives innovation.”
What started as a proof of concept is already making waves. The AI-powered system is currently in use and ready to scale. Built on AWS’s cloud services, it’s set up to handle larger datasets and automate more complex tasks as Tachmed grows. The suite of AI tools at Tachmed's disposal has the potential to expand their capabilities beyond data scraping to include data analysis and testing, which would grow Tachmed’s ability to innovate and respond quickly to healthcare needs.
“This partnership is a real game-changer,” Paul Christie adds. “We’re excited to broaden our use of AI and keep transforming healthcare diagnostics, all thanks to Daemon’s expertise.”
In a world where healthcare innovation can make a life-or-death difference, every second counts. With Daemon’s AI-powered solutions, Tachmed is one step closer to making faster, more accurate diagnostics a reality for everyone.
