Meet The Daemonite: Naomi Pearse
Hi, I’m Naomi Pearse, an Analyst Consultant at Daemon. I joined in 2023, and it has been an incredible journey so far.
How did your career begin?
I began my career in Interior Design as an outdoor furniture Designer and Planner. In 2022 I changed careers into the tech industry, before joining Daemon in my first tech role, as an Analyst Consultant in 2023. Having met many software engineers over the years, I felt software development was the right career for me as it offered the right balance of challenges and continuous learning that I enjoyed in my previous roles, but within an industry that offers a much wider range of opportunities to explore.
What is your day-to-day like at Daemon?
My typical day involves coding and building out front-end interfaces for projects. I’m currently working on a proof-of-concept for retailers, which is very exciting because it could transform how people shop in-store and online.
I make time for training to build on my skills, as I haven’t been in the industry for too long, and coding is a continuous learning process.
What I love about Daemon is the wide variety of things to get involved with, such as the working groups. As lead of the Socials Working Group this has given me a chance to lead a team aside from my day-to-day responsibilities, not only helping to increase my skills and confidence but also contributing to Daemon’s incredible culture.
What advice would you give to others?
To anyone starting out, be curious and open. One of the most important lessons I’ve learned is to give everything a try at least once, as you will learn a lot more than you realise. Whether it is attending meetups, learning a new software engineering language, or having a discussion with colleagues, I’ve learned a lot that I have gone on to use already.
I have personally found attending meetups to be very rewarding. They build a sense of community around a shared interest, creating a space to meet new people and share ideas and innovations. Meetups helped me advance through my career change, and I am now an organizer and co-host of the Artificial Intelligence and Deep Learning for Enterprise meetup.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
Outside of work, I love being outdoors - from hiking and camping to rock climbing. I find it so peaceful being out in the countryside and the perfect break from computers!
Here’s a fun fact about me: I have a hidden talent for cross-stitching - everyone I know will get a cross-stitched gift at least once!
Looking ahead, I aim to progress towards more senior engineering levels. Thank you for taking the time to read my story.
